What to Expect at Your First Visit to Elevate Health and Wellness

A Different Kind of First Appointment
At Elevate Health and Wellness, your first visit is not a seven-minute intake appointment where a provider glances at a computer screen and hands you a prescription. It is a genuine clinical encounter — one designed to understand who you are, what you're experiencing, what you've tried, and what you actually want from your healthcare. Kristy Beard, MSN, APRN, FNP-C built Elevate specifically to be the kind of practice she wished more Gulf Coast patients had access to: thorough, personalized, evidence-based, and unhurried.
Before Your Visit: What to Prepare
Coming prepared makes your first visit significantly more productive. Bring a complete list of all current medications including doses and frequency, any supplements or over-the-counter medications you take regularly, your insurance card and a photo ID, any recent lab work or medical records from the past 12 months if available, a written list of your current concerns and questions in order of priority, and information about your family medical history including parents, siblings, and grandparents. If you have a chronic condition that has been managed elsewhere, bringing records of previous testing and treatment helps Kristy build on what has already been done rather than starting completely from scratch.
During Your Visit: What Actually Happens
Your first visit begins with a comprehensive intake — Kristy reviews your health history in detail, covering your past medical history, surgical history, medications, allergies, family history, social history including occupation and lifestyle, and a complete review of systems. She takes time to listen to your concerns without interrupting or rushing to a conclusion. Vital signs are obtained including blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, weight, height, and BMI. A physical examination appropriate to your visit reason is performed. Based on the intake and examination, Kristy determines which diagnostic tests are indicated — typically including comprehensive lab work for new patients — and explains what she is ordering and why. Before you leave, you will have a clear understanding of the plan, when to expect results, and what the next steps are.
After Your Visit: The Follow-Up Process
Lab results are typically available within two to five business days depending on the tests ordered. At Elevate, results are not simply posted to a patient portal without explanation — Kristy reviews every result and communicates findings with context. For significant abnormalities or complex results, a follow-up visit is scheduled to discuss findings and develop a treatment plan. For straightforward results, communication may be through the patient portal with a brief explanatory note. No result at Elevate is treated as just a number on a page — every value is interpreted in the context of the complete clinical picture.
Making the Most of Your First Visit
The patients who get the most value from their first visit at Elevate are those who come with their health concerns clearly articulated and prioritized, who are honest about their lifestyle including diet, sleep, exercise, alcohol, and stress, and who arrive ready to be active participants in their care rather than passive recipients of a verdict. Kristy values patient engagement — she wants to know what you've already tried, what has and has not worked, and what your health goals actually are. That information shapes the clinical plan far more than any single lab value.
