Iron Infusions
Tired of being tired? Low iron could be the reason.
At Elevate Health and Wellness, we offer nurse practitioner-led IV iron infusions for adults with iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia — a faster way to rebuild your iron when pills aren’t working or aren’t tolerated.
Iron deficiency is the most common nutritional deficiency in the world. It can leave you exhausted, short of breath, foggy, cold, and even craving ice. Heavy periods, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, weight-loss surgery, and digestive conditions are some of the most common causes.
Is an Iron Infusion Right for You?
IV iron may be a good option if you:
-
Have low ferritin or iron deficiency anemia on your labs
-
Can’t tolerate iron pills because of stomach upset, constipation, or nausea
-
Have taken iron pills for months without improvement
-
Have heavy menstrual bleeding or ongoing blood loss
-
Are pregnant (second or third trimester) or postpartum with low iron — we coordinate with your OB or midwife
-
Have had gastric bypass or a condition that limits iron absorption, such as celiac disease or inflammatory bowel disease
Your Labs Guide Your Care
Every iron patient starts with a visit with Kristy Beard, MSN, APRN, FNP-C. We review your symptoms and labs — including a complete blood count and iron studies such as ferritin — to confirm iron deficiency, choose the right iron, and calculate how many infusions you need. Follow-up labs make sure your levels are truly improving.
Your safety comes first. You’re monitored by your nurse during your infusion and for a period afterward.
What to Expect
-
New iron patient visit. Kristy reviews your history and labs, or orders the labs you need.
-
Your infusion plan. Kristy chooses Venofer or Feraheme based on your labs and needs.
-
Infusion day. Relax in a comfortable chair while your nurse monitors you.
-
Recheck. We repeat labs a few weeks later to confirm your iron is rebuilding.
Many patients notice more energy in the weeks that follow, as the body uses the new iron to build healthy red blood cells.
Insurance & Self-Pay Pricing
We accept most insurance for iron infusions. When you have documented iron deficiency or iron deficiency anemia, iron infusions are often covered. Your plan sets your copay, deductible, and coinsurance, and some plans require prior authorization. Our team will check your benefits before your first infusion.
Prefer to pay directly? Our self-pay prices:
-
New iron patient visit with Kristy: $150
-
Venofer (iron sucrose): $185 per infusion
-
Feraheme (ferumoxytol): $437
-
Double-dose Feraheme: $737
Your labs decide which iron and how many infusions you need.
