Why B Vitamins Are Non-Negotiable for Energy

The B vitamins are a family of eight water-soluble nutrients that play essential and often interrelated roles in human metabolism. They are not stored in significant quantities in the body — meaning they must be replenished regularly through diet or supplementation. And yet B-vitamin deficiencies are remarkably common, particularly on the Gulf Coast where dietary patterns, medication use, alcohol consumption, and chronic stress create multiple pathways to depletion.

What Each B Vitamin Does

Thiamine (B1) is essential for converting carbohydrates into usable energy and for proper nervous system function. Deficiency produces fatigue, peripheral neuropathy, and in severe cases Wernicke's encephalopathy. Riboflavin (B2) supports cellular energy production in the mitochondria and is involved in the metabolism of other B vitamins. Niacin (B3) is critical for DNA repair and energy production via NAD+ synthesis — linking it directly to the longevity and cellular repair pathways associated with NAD+ therapy. Pantothenic acid (B5) is essential for coenzyme A synthesis, which drives the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. Pyridoxine (B6) is involved in over 100 enzymatic reactions including neurotransmitter synthesis — making it directly relevant to mood, sleep, and cognitive function. It is also the first-line treatment for nausea in pregnancy. Biotin (B7) supports fat and glucose metabolism and is essential for healthy hair, skin, and nail structure. Folate (B9) is critical for DNA synthesis, red blood cell production, and fetal neural tube development. B12 (cobalamin) supports myelin sheath integrity, red blood cell formation, and neurological function.

Why IV Delivery Makes a Difference

Oral B-vitamin supplements are effective for mild deficiencies in patients with healthy gut absorption. But many patients — including those with gut inflammation, celiac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, or who take medications like metformin or proton pump inhibitors that impair B-vitamin absorption — cannot reliably absorb oral supplements at therapeutic levels. IV B-complex delivery bypasses the gut entirely, achieving cellular concentrations that simply are not possible through oral supplementation.

Who Benefits Most from B-Complex IV Therapy at Elevate?

B-complex IV therapy is most beneficial for patients experiencing persistent fatigue that hasn't responded to rest or oral supplementation, brain fog and cognitive sluggishness, mood instability or depression with a nutritional component, peripheral neuropathy symptoms, patients recovering from illness or surgery, those with documented B-vitamin deficiencies on lab testing, and anyone under significant chronic stress that accelerates B-vitamin depletion.
