What Are MIC Injections?

MIC injections — also called lipotropic injections or Lipo+ injections — are a combination of nutrients that support fat metabolism and liver function. The key components are methionine, an essential amino acid that helps break down fats and prevents excess fat accumulation in the liver; inositol, a B-vitamin-like compound that plays a role in insulin signaling and fat metabolism; and choline, a nutrient that supports liver function, fat transport, and the metabolism of cholesterol. These are often combined with vitamin B12, which supports energy production, red blood cell formation, and neurological function.

What Do MIC Injections Actually Do?

MIC injections work synergistically to support the body's natural fat-processing mechanisms. Methionine and choline are lipotropic agents — meaning they promote the export of fat from the liver and support efficient lipid metabolism. Inositol improves cellular insulin sensitivity, which can reduce fat storage signals. B12 restores energy in patients who are deficient, which often translates to improved motivation and physical activity capacity.

It is important to be honest about what MIC injections cannot do: they are not a standalone weight loss solution. They do not burn fat on their own. The clinical evidence for their independent weight loss efficacy is limited — they are most effective as a supportive component of a comprehensive medical weight loss program that includes dietary modification, physical activity, and appropriate medical interventions.

How Elevate Uses MIC Injections

At Elevate Health and Wellness, Kristy Beard, MSN, APRN, FNP-C incorporates MIC and B12 injections as an adjunct to our comprehensive medical weight loss program — not as a replacement for it. Patients who tend to benefit most are those who are B12 deficient and experiencing fatigue that limits their activity, those in the early phases of a weight loss program who need metabolic support, and those who want a non-pharmaceutical option to complement dietary changes.

What to Expect

MIC injections at Elevate are administered intramuscularly — typically in the arm or thigh — and take only a few seconds. Many patients schedule weekly injections as part of an ongoing weight management program. They are well-tolerated with minimal side effects when administered correctly under clinical supervision.
