Telehealth for Hormone Management: How It Works at Elevate

Why Telehealth Works Particularly Well for Hormone Management

Hormone management is one of the clinical areas most naturally suited to telehealth delivery. Once an initial in-person or comprehensive telehealth evaluation has established your baseline — including physical examination, complete hormone panel, and health history — the majority of ongoing hormone management consists of lab result review, symptom assessment, medication adjustments, and prescription renewal. These are all tasks that can be performed with the same clinical quality through a secure video visit as through an in-person appointment. For Gulf Coast patients managing perimenopause, menopause, testosterone deficiency, or thyroid conditions — who may need regular follow-up every one to three months — the ability to conduct those follow-ups from home rather than driving to a clinic is a genuine quality-of-life improvement.

How Hormone Management Telehealth Works at Elevate

For new patients seeking hormone management at Elevate Health and Wellness, the process begins with a comprehensive initial consultation — which can be conducted via telehealth for most patients who are able to have lab work done at a local draw station prior to the visit. Kristy Beard, MSN, APRN, FNP-C reviews the complete hormone panel results during the initial visit, discusses findings and treatment options, and initiates the appropriate therapy. Prescriptions are sent electronically to the patient's preferred pharmacy. Follow-up visits to review symptom response, adjust dosing, and evaluate repeat lab work are conducted via telehealth — typically at 6 to 8 weeks after initiating therapy, then every 3 to 6 months for stable patients on maintenance therapy.

Lab Work and Telehealth: How It Fits Together

The primary practical consideration for telehealth hormone management is lab work — which requires a physical blood draw that cannot be performed remotely. At Elevate, lab orders are sent electronically to national laboratory networks including LabCorp and Quest Diagnostics, which have draw station locations throughout Mississippi and Alabama. Most patients can have their blood drawn within a few miles of their home. Results are transmitted electronically to Elevate and reviewed by Kristy before the telehealth follow-up visit, ensuring that the virtual appointment is as clinically substantive as an in-person visit.

What Telehealth Hormone Management Covers

Through telehealth at Elevate, Kristy manages thyroid hormone therapy including levothyroxine, liothyronine, and desiccated thyroid prescriptions with regular TSH, Free T4, and Free T3 monitoring; female hormone therapy including estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone with appropriate lab monitoring; male testosterone replacement therapy with testosterone level, hematocrit, and PSA monitoring; DHEA and adrenal support supplementation; and nutritional supplementation protocols informed by comprehensive nutritional lab panels. Patients on GLP-1 weight loss therapy can also manage their ongoing program entirely through telehealth after the initial evaluation.
