Honoring Those Who Served
On this Veterans Day, Elevate Health and Wellness expresses deep gratitude to the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. The Gulf Coast has a long and proud military tradition — with significant veteran populations in both Mississippi and Alabama, home to Keesler Air Force Base, Camp Shelby, Naval Air Station Meridian, Redstone Arsenal, and Maxwell Air Force Base, among others. These veterans and their families deserve healthcare that recognizes the unique health challenges that military service creates — and that provides the comprehensive, individualized care that the complexity of those challenges requires.
Unique Health Challenges Facing Gulf Coast Veterans
Veterans face a distinctive health burden that civilian primary care providers must understand to serve them effectively. Musculoskeletal injuries from training and combat are nearly universal among combat veterans — creating chronic pain conditions, joint dysfunction, and degenerative changes that require ongoing management. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) — from blast exposure, vehicle accidents, and direct trauma — produces a range of cognitive, emotional, and neurological sequelae that frequently go unrecognized in primary care. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) affects approximately 20% of veterans from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, according to the National Center for PTSD, with significant downstream effects on cardiovascular health, sleep quality, substance use, and metabolic function. Environmental exposures — including burn pit smoke, Agent Orange, contaminated water at Camp Lejeune, and industrial chemical exposures — create elevated long-term cancer, pulmonary, and neurological risks. And military service's accelerated physical demands create hormonal changes — including testosterone decline in male veterans — that often present earlier and more severely than in age-matched civilians.
Services at Elevate That Directly Serve Veterans
At Elevate Health and Wellness, several service lines are particularly relevant to the veteran population. Comprehensive hormone evaluation including testosterone assessment for male veterans experiencing fatigue, cognitive changes, and loss of physical performance — symptoms that are common in veterans and frequently attributable to hormonal decline that military service and stress accelerates. NAD+ and peptide therapy for veterans seeking support for neurological recovery, chronic fatigue, and cognitive optimization following TBI or the physiological stress of deployment. IV therapy for pain management support, immune optimization, and nutritional restoration in veterans with chronic illness or complex medical histories. Mental wellness evaluation and referral coordination for veterans whose mood, anxiety, or sleep symptoms have a neurological or hormonal component that standard psychiatric treatment has not fully addressed. Primary care with comprehensive lab evaluation for veterans who want a provider who understands their service history and the health implications it carries.
Insurance Coverage for Veterans at Elevate
Elevate Health and Wellness accepts most major commercial insurance plans. Veterans with VA healthcare coverage may use their VA benefits for care within the VA system, but many veterans also carry commercial insurance through employers or through TRICARE — the military health insurance program for active duty, reserve, and retired military members and their families. TRICARE coverage at Elevate varies by plan type. Veterans without insurance coverage are welcome as cash-pay patients, and telehealth is available across Mississippi and Alabama for veterans who face geographic barriers to in-person care.
