Why Structural Evaluation Matters in Women's Health

Comprehensive women's health care requires both biochemical assessment through lab work and structural assessment through imaging. Lab panels tell us what your hormones, nutrients, and metabolic markers look like in the blood. Imaging tells us what your pelvic organs, thyroid, and breast tissue look like anatomically. The two approaches are complementary — and for many women, a structural abnormality that is driving their symptoms will not appear on any blood test. Uterine fibroids causing heavy bleeding, ovarian cysts disrupting hormone patterns, thyroid nodules affecting thyroid function, and dense breast tissue requiring characterization all require imaging to identify. At Elevate Health and Wellness, the women's comprehensive ultrasound package is designed to provide that structural picture in a single, convenient evaluation.

What the Women's Comprehensive Ultrasound Package Includes

The women's comprehensive ultrasound package at Elevate Health and Wellness includes a pelvic ultrasound evaluating the uterus for fibroids, polyps, adenomyosis, and structural abnormalities; the ovaries for cysts, follicular patterns, and polycystic morphology; and the endometrium for thickness and regularity — which is particularly important for women with irregular bleeding or who are taking hormone therapy. The package also includes a thyroid ultrasound evaluating gland size, texture, and the presence of nodules — complementing thyroid lab work with structural information that blood tests cannot provide. Breast ultrasound is included for women with dense breast tissue identified on mammography, palpable breast changes, or those who want breast tissue characterization as part of a complete preventive evaluation.

Who Benefits Most from This Package

The women's comprehensive ultrasound package is most valuable for women experiencing heavy, irregular, or painful periods that may reflect structural pathology such as fibroids or polyps; those with pelvic pain or pressure that warrants structural evaluation; women with PCOS who need ovarian morphology assessment alongside their hormone panel; those with a thyroid nodule or goiter identified on physical examination or lab work; women with dense breast tissue on mammography or palpable breast changes requiring sonographic evaluation; perimenopausal and postmenopausal women monitoring for endometrial changes related to hormone therapy; and those who simply want the most complete preventive picture of their reproductive and endocrine structural health.

What to Expect During Your Evaluation

The women's comprehensive ultrasound package at Elevate is performed by Kristy Beard, MSN, APRN, FNP-C or under her direct supervision. Pelvic ultrasound is performed transabdominally with a full bladder followed by transvaginally for optimal organ visualization. Thyroid and breast ultrasound are performed with standard external transducer technique. The entire evaluation typically takes 45 to 60 minutes. Results are reviewed with you in real time and incorporated into your personalized health plan during the same visit.
